Post-Script: Climate Week 2024
We hope you were able to join Reality of Change at New York Climate Week 2024, either in-person or online. We were excited to meet with like-minded people, collaborate with new and longtime friends, and share exciting updates about what ROC has been up to and some of the great things to come.
On Tuesday, September 24th, Cyle Zezo joined Rare’s Ellis Watamanuk and Dr. Anirudh Tiwathia at the Solutions House, hosted by Futerra, the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance, and Google, on a panel to discuss forthcoming results for research on the unscripted series Recipe for Disaster, which incorporated plant-based foods into a cooking challenge, and its effects on viewers. Main takeaway: Putting climate solutions on screen pays off!
The talk show-style program also featured Staci Roberts-Steele, the managing director of Adam McKay’s Yellow Dot Studios, and Marianna Olinger, an impact strategist and producer, and Lead Impact Producer for The Territory and How to Blow Up a Pipeline.
On Wednesday, ROC co-hosted an intimate evening with Rare’s Entertainment Lab and Sandbox Films, where we shared a sneak peek at the new Sandbox film Nocturnes and presented a discussion featuring Jessica Harrop (Sandbox Films), Megha Agrawal Sood (Doc Society’s The Climate Unit) and Lindsay Firestone (Bloomberg Philanthropies). Ellis Watamanuk led the discussion, delving into the many creative ways filmmakers can approach climate A stories while addressing the needs and demands of various audiences.
Many discussions were started or advanced this week, and we look forward to continuing to turn talk into action. See you at next year’s Climate Week, and stay tuned in the interim.
